Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for the Municipal Accountant, Class-3 post must meet the following eligibility criteria as of the application end date (31-08-2026 (Extended)).
Educational Qualification for Municipal Accountant
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Application, Commerce, Science (Mathematics/Statistics), or Arts (Statistics/Economics/Mathematics) obtained from any university or institution established or incorporated by or under a Central or State Act in India, or any other educational institution recognized as such, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government.
- Possess basic knowledge of computer application as prescribed in the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
- Possess adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.
Note: Candidates holding a B.Sc. (CA & IT) or M.Sc. (CA & IT) degree are not considered eligible for this post.
Candidates who have appeared for a degree examination, the passing of which would render them educationally qualified for the Preliminary Examination, but the result of such examination is not declared until the last date of filling the application form, are also eligible to apply for the Preliminary examinations.
Age Limit for Municipal Accountant

Selection Process
The selection process for the Municipal Accountant Class-3 post will consist of two stages:
- Preliminary Examination (MCQs): This will be an objective-type elimination test.
- Total Marks: 150
- Duration: 2 Hours
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
- Minimum Qualifying Marks: 40% for all categories.
- The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination will not be considered for the final selection list.
- Main Examination (Descriptive): Candidates approximately 7 times the number of vacancies will be called for the Main Examination.
- Paper 1: Gujarati Language and English Language (Descriptive) – 100 Marks, 3 Hours.
- Paper 2: Accountancy and Auditing, etc. (Descriptive) – 100 Marks, 3 Hours.
- Minimum Qualifying Marks: 40% in each paper for all categories.
- The final selection list will be prepared based on the merit of the total marks obtained in the Main Examination.
- Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates will be granted 20 minutes compensatory time per hour for both Preliminary and Main Examinations.
